Nigerian Idol S8: D’banj, Simi and Obi Asika return as judges ahead of April launch

Nigerian Idol, the most prestigious reality singing competition on television in Nigeria, is back for a new season!

On April 23, 2023, D’banj, Simi, and Obi Asika will make a triumphant comeback to the show as judges, joining renowned presenter IK Osakioduwa.

This comes after the last edition’s outstanding performance, which saw Progress Chukwuyem emerge as the champion and take home a prize package worth N100 million.

At a media launch held at the company’s Lagos studio on Tuesday, March 28, MultiChoice Nigeria confirmed the return of the show and its judges.

IK Osakioduwa, a well-known television personality, and Obi Asika, who will also be judging in his third season, return to host the program for a third time.

Superstar singer/songwriter Simi and multiple-award-winning entertainer D’banj are back for a second time, ensuring the band stays together.

The show’s return was announced by the top entertainment business in January, and the physical and online auditions soon after.

Beginning on April 23, recordings from the auditions will be played to kick off the eighth season.

Future stars are expected to dazzle fans with humorous and gorgeous performances.

From April 23 through May 21, viewers will be able to follow the path of the final Live Show contenders thanks to the Auditions and Theatre Week.

A new Nigerian Idol will be unveiled at the Live Shows, which will start on May 28 and end on July 16.

Nigerian Idol is a platform designed to give contestants the chance of a lifetime while showcasing outstanding Nigerian voices to a worldwide audience.

The show will provide viewers with the best entertainment as they watch the best talent compete for the top spot, as is customary.

Nigerian Idol has produced some of the most well-known performers in the country throughout the years, including Timi Dakolo, Mercy Chinwo, Kingdom, Progress, and Omawumi, who are well-known in both the national and international music scenes.

At the end of this season, we hope to find another superstar.
