Security agencies have been given the go-ahead by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rescue the last remaining female students who were recently kidnapped by terrorists from the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State.
The instruction was given on Sunday by Special Adviser to the President Ajuri Ngelale in response to recent reports that robbers had broken into a dormitory in Gusau, Zamfara state, and abducted some students from a federal university.
Tinubu referred to the situation as an evil act of kidnapping.
He claimed that the President held the opinion that such horrible acts against innocent victims, whose only “offense” was their pursuit of high-quality education, could not have any moral basis.
“While the President wholeheartedly commiserates with all families directly impacted by this sad incident, he affirms that his administration has a solemn duty to protect every Nigerian citizen, and in line with this commitment, assures the families of the abducted students that no effort will be spared in ensuring their safe return.
“The President pledges that the federal government is determined to ensure that educational institutions remain sanctuaries of knowledge, growth, and opportunity, and totally free from the menacing acts of terrorists,” he stated.
