Big Brother Naija’s Phyna addresses backlash for leaving photo shoot due to Chichi’s presence.

Big Brother Naija “Level Up” winner Josephina Ijeoma Otabor, well known as Phyna, has addressed the criticism directed at her when a video surfaced that showed her leaving a picture shoot because her competitor and fellow housemate Chi Chi was there.

Several BBNaija alums, including Adekunle, Hermes, Soma, and Phyna, were present at the University of Lagos when the incident happened during a brand-sponsored event. Adekunle, Soma, and Phyna joined the brand’s employees for a picture session that the organizers scheduled following the event.

But a few seconds later, a woman whose face was hidden from view on the video entered the line for the picture. Phyna was seen leaving the queue right away, carrying a distressed expression on her face.

Netizens quickly assumed that Phyna had walked out of the photoshoot due to the presence of her rival, Chi Chi. The two housemates have had a tumultuous relationship since their time in the Big Brother house, with several public disagreements and disputes.

Phyna clarified the matter in the comments area in reaction to the backlash. She said that one of the brand’s employees, not Chi Chi, was the woman who entered the photo session line. She clarified that the actual reason she left the photo session was because the company putting it on was a direct rival of the company she presently works for.

“Make una dy calm down with the lies,” Phyna wrote. I walked out bcuz we were snapping with and opposite brand products that I work with… it can affect my work so prevention is better than cure.”

The BBNaija star made it clear that, in order to safeguard her own business ties and avoid taking photos with the rival’s employees and products, to protect her own professional relationships and commitments. She stressed that her decision was not motivated by any personal animosity towards Chi Chi, but rather a practical concern to maintain the integrity of her existing brand partnerships.
