Mandy talks about the f1ghts and friendships she had in the house

Mandy Hagan, whose real name is Amanda Makathini, who was evicted from Big Brother Mzansi season 5 show during the live eviction show on Sunday.

The 26-year-old spoke in a recent interview about her favorite parts of competing this season as well as her frustrations.

Mandy and Mshini’s heated confrontation

Mandy shares how this tension between her and Mshini stemmed from a misunderstanding about a conversation she had with Uyanda. Mshini accused Mandy and Uyanda of gossiping about her but Mandy insists that wasn’t the case.

“I could pick up that Mshini doesn’t even listen, and she answers before even understanding what the question is,” she shares, frustrated.

Mandy said that Uyanda had only inquired as to whether she and Mshini had been chatting about him. Following Mandy’s truthful response to the question, Mshini’s name was brought up, but not in a negative light.

“The next morning, she calls a meeting saying she’s apologizing to the housemates and not me or Uyanda,” she shares, “and that’s when I told her she’s selfish and inconsiderate.”

Reflecting on the season, Mandy shares how she learnt to stand up for herself. Even in the moments when Mshini would disregard or overlook her opinion, Mandy continuously expressed how she felt.

“I was speaking my truth. I wasn’t offending anyone or anything,” she shares.

Mandy’s unbreakable bond with Philile

Despite the limitations on conversations in the Big Brother house, Mandy says she never felt bored around Philile – sometimes just sitting in comfortable silence with her was enough.

“One thing I’ll walk away from the house is the friendship I’ve formed with Philile. What a girl! Our friendship didn’t even have conflict,” she shares.

However, she wished Philile was able to stand up for herself.

“Jojo and Philile are not vocal people. Sometimes Sphesihle and I would get into trouble for fighting their battles for them,” she shares.

Because she stood her ground, Mandy was frequently seen as a warrior. She explains that people frequently point the finger at the person who is responding to what was done to them rather than the one who started the issue.

“I would like to clarify that Mandy Hagan is not someone who just reacts – please try to look at both sides of the story. And if you ever want heat, bring it on!”
