Broda Shaggi wins at AMVCA8

The full list for the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Award, season 8 which held tonight, May 14, 2022, has been released.

Rattlesnake – The Ahanna Story and Amina took home four AMVCA awards each, with Ramsey Nouah winning Best Director for Rattlesnake – The Ahanna Story and Amina winning Best Overall Movie.

Stan Nze won Best Actor in Drama in the public voting categories, while Osas Ighodaro won Best Actress in Drama. Samuel Perry, also known as ‘Broda Shaggi,’ and Omowunmi Dada, both first-time AMVCA nominees, won Best Actor in a Comedy and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, respectively.

Rogers Ofime, the producer, won many awards in the categories of Best Television Series, Best Indigenous Language Movie (Hausa), and Best Africa Magic Original Comedy Series for The Johnsons.

Collision Course won Best Movie West Africa, while The Girl in the Yellow Jumper and Hairareb won Best Movie East Africa and Best Movie Southern Africa, respectively, in the regional awards.

In the special recognition categories, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett (OON), a veteran Nigerian actress, journalist, and television presenter, received the AMVCA industry Merit award for this edition, while Teni Aladese received the Trailblazer award, which recognizes an outstanding achievement by a young and upcoming act.

Africa Magic, in collaboration with MultiChoice, presents the eighth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, which is proudly sponsored by Amstel Malta.
