Adeleke denies taking N5 billion out of the Osun account.

Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has denied taking N5 billion out of the state’s account and appointing a contractor to rehabilitate the road leading to Adeleke University in Ede.

The governor said on Wednesday that the charges being spread on social media were a fiction created by deranged minds in a statement released by his spokeswoman, Olawale Rasheed.

“The people will remember that Adeleke announced the freezing of all state and local government area accounts during his inauguration.

“That was carried out exactly where the inauguration took place, before he had access to any official documents or funds.

When the new leader didn’t have access to state funds, how could such a large sum be removed from them on the day of the inauguration? He asked.

He pleaded with the people to disregard the rumor.

In a similar vein, he claimed that a report of Adeleke’s contract award for the rebuilding of the road leading to the Adeleke University in Ede had also caught the attention of the state government.

He claimed that the tale was a total fabrication and the result of harmful misinformation.

“The new government is still settling down and has not awarded any contract.

“The reconstruction of the said road is a project of the Federal Government to service the Federal Polytechnic, Ede. It has been ongoing since the time of the Oyetola administration.

Adeleke denies taking N5 billion out of the Osun account.

“We urge the public to disregard the report as it is a failed attempt to undermine the integrity of the state governor and that of the administration.

“We repeat, for the sake of emphasis, that Adeleke has not awarded any contract since assumption of office on November 27.”
