FG declares Friday and Monday public holidays to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr

The federal government has declared today’s announcement that the public holidays for the end of Ramadan ( Eid-el-Fitr ) will be Friday and Monday.

This was said in a statement by Shuaib Belgore, the ministry of interior’s permanent secretary.

Belgore remarked The declaration was made on Wednesday by interior minister Rauf Aregbesola.

Aregbesola wished the Muslims a joyous holiday and urged them to adopt the characteristics of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, self-denial, and sacrifice in the statement.

He went on to say that the fasting period’s “deep spiritual consciousness” should not cease but rather be maintained.

The statement states, “To commemorate this year’s Eid-al-Fitr celebration, the federal government has declared Friday, April 21, and Monday, April 24, 2023, as public holidays.”

“Ogbeni Aregbesola assures that President Muhammadu Buhari is fully committed to a peaceful transition of government following successful elections.

“He assures of the government’s commitment to the provision of security for the life and property of every citizen and foreigner in the country.

“The minister commends all security agencies for the successes recorded in the fight against criminals across the country.

“He urges Nigerians to be part of the nation’s security architecture by being vigilant and reporting suspicious individuals and activities to law enforcement agencies nearest to them, noting that security is everybody’s responsibility.

“He admonishes Nigerians also to report suspicious activities and persons to the N-Alert application.”
