Faith Adewale, a former housemate of Big Brother Naija, has officially joined forces with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) to conduct a focused feeding mission in the city.
The partnership is a component of LFBI’s Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), which aims to promptly distribute food to homes that are struggling due to the growing cost of living.
Faith will assist in sorting and distributing packages recovered through the charity’s agricovery operations at the warehouse-led distribution, according to LFBI’s confirmation.
The goal of enlisting a well-known person like Faith, according to the organizers, is to raise awareness of the campaign and inspire wider community support.
The event is being billed not as a one-off photo opportunity but as a coordinated activity within LFBI’s ongoing food-rescue and redistribution work, with concrete targets for the day’s deliveries to specified vulnerable groups.
Programme mechanics: agricovery, partners and beneficiaries
At the heart of the operation is LFBI’s #AgricoveryProgram, which recovers surplus fresh produce from farms and markets, grades it at the warehouse and redistributes it to households, elderly residents and people with disabilities.
The charity says this reduces food waste while meeting urgent nutritional needs in informal settlements.
For the current outreach, LFBI is working with five partner NGOs, JKO Heart Foundation, McDera Food Bank, The Glow Foundation, Faith Moves Foundation and I Care For All Foundation, to reach more communities and ensure last-mile delivery.
Each partner has a defined catchment area and beneficiary list to avoid duplication and ensure accountability.
LFBI spokespeople emphasised monitoring and record-keeping: recipients are registered, food items logged, and follow-up checks planned so the intervention can be evaluated and scaled where it proves most effective.
Faith’s role: from volunteer to strategic collaborator
Faith’s participation goes beyond turning up for the distribution. LFBI says he has pledged to work with its network on at least one more feeding drive and will lend his platform to awareness and fundraising efforts coordinated by Faith Moves Foundation.
The former contestant has previously volunteered with LFBI’s #NUMEPlan, which focuses on treating and feeding malnourished children. He told organisers the hands-on work convinced him to deepen the relationship and support ongoing interventions.
Beneficiaries and field volunteers noted that celebrity involvement accelerated logistics on the day, more volunteers, smoother crowd management and quicker distribution.
Yet, LFBI stressed that operational success rested on pre-existing systems and the partner NGOs on the ground.
