Yakubu Dogara Dumps APC for PDP after endorsing Atiku Abubakar.

Yakubu Dogara, a former House Speaker of the House of Representatives, has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) and now a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This comes 48 hours after Dogara and other irate northern APC officials endorsed PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

As the Northern Elders Consultative Forum, which includes the Christian leaders in the All Progressives Congress in the North, publicly embraced Atiku on Friday, coming after several months of political wrangling.

They claim that Atiku was chosen after the Northern Christian leaders resolved to collaborate with their Muslim counterparts to support one of the presidential contenders in an effort to defeat the APC’s presidential ticket of the same faith.

Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate and former vice president, welcomed Dogara joined the party during the presidential campaign in Lagos State, the nation’s economic hub.

Dogara left the PDP in 2020 and joined the APC.

At the time, Mai Mala Buni, the chairperson of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Committee, informed State House reporters of the situation and stated that President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) was pleased to have Dogara rejoin the party.
