Julius Agwu, a well-known comedian, has declared his marriage to Ibiere (née Maclayton) to be over. He claimed that his wife told him that she was sick of being his wife.
There had been rumors that their marriage was in trouble earlier in the year. The comedian was contacted by Sunday Scoop at the time, but he declined to respond.
However, Agwu recently stated, “My wife declared she was not marrying me again,” in an interview with media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, aka Freeze.
She claimed she had become weary of her marriage. I am grateful to God that I am still alive because of this. I have a phrase that goes, “God works miraculously, and Satan works in mysterious ways.”
Asked about his children, the comedian said,
“My kids are in the United States of America. They are fine.”
Reliving his experience when battling with brain tumours, he said, “There were no rumours about my health. It’s true. I wanted to cool down for a while.
I had a surgery in 2015 to remove some tumours from my brain.
I came back to Nigeria and did a thanksgiving service. After that, I travelled to London, United Kingdom, in 2016 for a show.
But, just two days to my show in London, I was rushed to the hospital. I was in coma for three months; and I can only thank God that I am alive.”
However, some social media users questioned the comic in the comments that followed the interview about what he did to his ex-wife to lose interest in their roughly 14-year marriage.
Even still, he received praise from some for having the guts to talk about it.
