Danboskid, a recently evicted housemate from Season 10 of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), has attributed his early departure from the reality show to a name change that he claims made it harder for fans to recognize and support him.
After spending two weeks in Biggie’s house, Danboskid, a 25-year-old Ekiti State businessman named Daniel Olatunji, was the first competitor to be kicked out this season.
In an interview with Arise TV’s 360 Chats, he clarified that in order to facilitate fan interaction, he initially submitted a name that corresponded with his social media usernames.
But because it was already registered, the show organizers turned it down.
“Entering the house, I gave a name that matched my social media handles, but the management did not want someone coming in with an already registered name. I changed that name to Danboskid. I was out of reach with my handler. This made it hard for my fans watching me to identify me,” he said.
The entrepreneur suggested that the loss of name recognition impacted his popularity and may have contributed to his swift eviction.
