Progress may finally relax since it has all paid off after putting up impressive performance after impressive performance on the Nigerian Idol Live Stage every week.
After a week-long struggle at the polls, the outstanding musician was declared the winner of this season of Nigerian Idol, after garnering the lion’s share of public votes against velvety-voiced runner-up Zadok.
Host IK made the revelation at the conclusion of an exhilarating Finale that featured Pheelz and Judges Simi, Obi Asika, and D’banj performing their hearts out in front of a live audience.
Here’s how it went down:
As the audience grew silent, an envelope-wielding IK (who had also performed earlier) invited the two Finalists to his side on stage. As IK peered into the envelope containing the verified and audited results, the lights dimmed and hearts raced out of chests. Our favorite naturally made the announcement, sending our collective blood pressure over the roof.
The tension was evident when Progress lowered his head and locked arms with Zadok, his eyes set on the ground. Progress let out a shout of amazement as soon as IK’s words left his mouth. Zadok congratulated him, and Progress’ family soon stormed the platform with joy.

Progress will be awarded a reward package worth N100 million for beating the odds and coming out on top. He receives a N30 million cash reward, a new SUV, a Bigi refrigerator, and a year’s supply of Bigi drinks. He’ll also get to record an EP and a music video, as well as a weekend break courtesy of TravelBeta and a fully installed DStv Explora with a 12-month premium membership.
