Croatia beat Morocco to third place in 3 goal thriller.

Croatia edged to a close-fought 2-1 victory over Morocco on Saturday to ensure a third-place finish at the World Cup in Qatar.

Croatia took the lead early on thanks to a header from defender Josko Gvardiol, who has been one of the tournament’s top performers. However, Morocco quickly answered with a close-range header from defender Achraf Dari, who scored his first goal for Morocco.

Morocco is the only African nation to have ever advanced this far in a World Cup, but Mislav Orsic of Croatia, a winger, scored a beautiful curled goal on 42 minutes to seal the victory, relegating Morocco to fourth place.

When Croatia lost to Argentina 3-0 in the semifinal on Tuesday, their tournament came to an end. Croatia finished second in Russia four years ago and was looking for an unlikely comeback to the final in Qatar. In their previous World Cup outing in 1998, Croatia placed third.
